Peacekeeping: South American Peacekeeping Battalion

Archives

January 14, 2006: Chile and Argentina have just agreed to create a combined peacekeeping force of about battalion size. It will stand up in August, and be ready to deploy in 2007. While keeping with a trend among traditional peacekeeping nations to develop dedicated units for this sort of mission, the move is also intended as a confidence building step between the two traditionally hostile neighbors.
