Peacekeeping: July 29, 2002

The Bush Administration shows little if any interest in peacekeeping operations in Afghanistan beyond the city of Kabul, preferring to leave such jobs to the Europeans. The Europeans, who are undertaking those missions, seem to resent being "left to do the dishes after America serves the dinner". The US notes that most of the fighting was done by the US because it was the nation attacked, was willing to invest the forces, and had the right kind of forces to send.--Stephen V Cole
