South Africa continues to be concerned about Islamic terrorism, particularly since it has discovered lots of enthusiasm for Islamic radicalism among some of its young Moslems. Reportedly the government is considering committing a frigate to Coalition maritime interception operations in the North Arabian Sea in support of counter-terror operations. Given the current state of the South African Navy, such a deployment could begin in about a year, but could thereafter be sustained indefinitely with only modest assistance from the U.S.
