June 19,2008:
Israel is buying 25 U.S. T-6A
Texan flight training aircraft. These will replace 1960s era French designed
(and Israeli built) CM.170 jets. The T-6A is prop driven, and will reduce fuel
costs by over 60 percent. Moreover, the T-6A cannot, as the CM.170 did, double
as a ground attack aircraft. Israel is
paying about $7.6 million for each T-6A.
