December 9, 2007: The U.S. Air Force is spending another $100 million to continue repair of Keesler Air Force Base (AFB) facilities damaged by Hurricane Katrina two years ago [PHOTOS]. About half of Keesler, located on the Gulf coast of Mississippi, was under water during the storm, which did about a billion dollars worth of damage to the base. Shut down for less than a month after the storm, Keesler has been rebuilding itself ever since. This has been a major training base since World War II, in addition to hosting some combat units.
