As part of a special test, some Hispanic recruits for the US Army will be allowed to take a special Spanish-language entrance examination. All recruits take a standard test and must score at least 31 out of 100. Hispanic recruits could be enlisted if they receive 21 points on the standard test AND score in the upper half of the Spanish Wonderlic Personnel Test, a special Spanish-language test commonly used by US businesses to evaluate Spanish-speaking people who may have excellent potential but not speak English well. Two hundred recruits who qualify under this system will form a special group that will be tracked. If they do well in the Army, more recruits may be qualified under this procedure.--Stephen V Cole
