The United States National Guard is not only being called to active duty for overseas service more often, but is also being trained for additional counter-terrorism duty in their own states. Guardsmen are being trained for boarder patrol, airport security and large scale public gathering (especially sporting events, but also state fairs and demonstrations.) Getting this training means the troops are being called up more often to practice their new skills. One difference is that some of the troops will perform security duties in civilians clothes. This is done to provide stealthy surveillance for suspicious activity.
