The Navy has eliminated the British Nimrod from its choices for a new Multi-Mission Maritime Aircraft to replace the P-3 Orion, leaving Boeing and Lockheed Martin to fight for the expected huge contract. Nobody seems to know why the British were squeezed out, but it was noted that the Navy had enough money in the competition account to keep three competitors working on new designs.--Stephen V Cole
