With so many American helicopters flying over Iraq, and so many soldiers from different nations running around below, it's been noticed that some types of desert camouflage are better at hiding troops from view. The best camo pattern appears to be no pattern at all, but just plain old khaki (the Hindi word for "dust"), which was first adopted by British troops serving in India over a century ago. The U.S. says that it's "chocolate chip" desert camouflage pattern was developed for desert areas in the former Soviet Union, and may not work well in other areas.
