In its efforts to improve the food troops eat in the field, the U.S. Army is always surveying the troops for new meals to include in the MREs (Meals, Ready to Eat) line. Responding to suggestions, some vegetarian meals were developed. Most of the troops given the vegetarian MREs to test, said they liked them. So the vegetarian MREs will become part of the MRE inventory.
