The Brazilian Navy is converting the merchant ship Lloyd Atlantico into the naval support ship Atlantico Sul. It will fly pennant G40. The 28,977-ton ship can carry 30 cargo containers and has cranes that can lift 30 tons. The ship is 188m long and can reach a speed of 18 knots.--Stephen V Cole
