Australia has indicated that it plans to acquire 20 self-propelled 120mm turreted mortars as part of the fourth batch of LAV 8x8 armored personnel carriers. While several companies make such weapons, it is probable that Australia will simply buy the General Motors Defense 120mm Armored Mortar System without a competition. The vehicles should be in service about 2006.--Stephen V Cole
