Artillery: December 14, 2000

Singapore Technologies Kinetics is working on a new mobile artillery system for export. The first prototype will be completed by 2002. The system is mounted on a 6x6 truck, and mounts a 155mm (39 caliber) cannon. This can fire standard ammunition to 19 kilometers or advanced base-bleed ammunition to 30 kilometers. The system will weigh about seven metric tons, which means that there will not be the type of armor seen on tracked artillery and putting the new Singapore Kinetics cannon in the class of the French Caesar. It will include a flick rammer to increase the rate of fire and reduce crew fatigue.--Stephen V Cole
