Oman has received the first few of a new batch of 80 Piranha-II 8x8 armored cars ordered from Alvis of Great Britain. These will include APCs, 81mm mortar carriers, command vehicles, repair and recovery vehicles, ambulance vehicles, and artillery observer vehicles. Oman already has 80 Piranha-Iis which they bought earlier; those include all of the variants except repair and recovery vehicles. Each batch of 80 will equip one battalion. Some of the new vehicles will receive locally-designed and built turrets.Stephen V Cole
