Singapore has released more information on its Bionix Infantry Combat Vehicle. The US Army is testing two Bionix in its medium brigade test, along with just about every similar armored vehicle available in the West. Bionix ICV is a further development of the Bionix-25 and the Bionix-40/50 vehicles in full production for the Singapore armed forces. The Bionix-ICV is basically a Bionix-25 with a different turret. The Bionix-25 uses a two-man turret with a 25mm M242 cannon and a 7.62mm machinegun. The Bionix-IBV uses a remotely-controlled weapon station able to mount a 12.7mm machinegun or a Mark-14 automatic 40mm grenade launcher. With this small gun mount instead of an actual turret, the vehicle is lower and lighter, and there is more internal volume increasing the number of troops it can carry. The weapon station has a 27-power zoom daylight television camera, eye-safe laser rangefinder, and ballistic computer and can rotate in a 360-degree arc. The Bionix-ICV can be loaded in a C130 if the 7-tons of appliqu armor is removed, reducing vehicle weight to 17 tons.--Stephen V Cole
