Croatia has revealed its new DEGMAN tank, an improvement of the M84A4. It will enter production in early 2001 after the current order of M84A4s is complete. DEGMAN is armed with a 125mm smoothbore D81 cannon with an autoloader. The turret is all new, being a boxy NATO-style welded design rather than a Russian elliptical cast design. Fire control is a step beyond the Omega system in the M84A4. The engine is an improved copy of the Soviet design, with a new locally-designed automatic transmission.--Stephen V Cole
