August 8, 2014:   Egypt has ordered another eight C295 transport aircraft from the Spanish manufacturer. This will increase the Egyptian C295 fleet to 20 aircraft. Egypt began ordering this twin engine turboprop, 23 ton aircraft in 2010. The C295 can carry six tons for up to 2,200 kilometers. Top speed is 570 kilometers an hour and max payload is nine tons or 71 troops. Egypt received its first C295 in 2011 and already has six in service. Egypt likes the C295 because it is easy to maintain, stands up well to daily operation over long periods and copes with hot and dusty conditions. All this was confirmed by the first ones Egypt received, which were immediately put to work and performed satisfactorily.

So far over 150 C295s have been ordered by 19 countries. The C295 entered service in 2001. Egypt uses them for military and humanitarian missions, as do most nations that purchase the aircraft.
