Greece has agreed to buy 50 F-16C52 fighters from Lockheed Martin. The $2.1 billion deal calls for the first deliveries in the third quarter of 2002. The Greeks have specified that the 50 aircraft are to include 16 single-seat F-16Cs and 34 two-seat F-16Ds; all will be completed to the Block-52 standard. Each of the Greek F-16s will include a multi-mission computer, an APG-68VXM radar, color liquid crystal cockpit displays, and conformal fuel tanks (giving a range of 800 nautical miles). The deal includes an option for 10 more fighters. The Greeks have also ordered 60 Eurofighter Typhoons with options for 30 more.--Stephen V Cole
