     provide a useful overview of the war and it backgrounf, and often dip into areas usually overlooked in similar works.  So in addition to the standard entries on people, ships, places, and battles, we also find material on military institutions and organization, changing command structures, and the roles of the allies of both sides, including French, Spanish, Dutch, and, of course the Hessians and the Indians, in addition to much else besides.
