A detailed, readable work about the accidental sinking by an American submarine of
Awa Maru, a Japanese ship operating under a safe conduct from the U.S. in order to repatriate diplomatic personnel and carry relief parcels to Americans held prisoner by the Japanese, which touched off a small, but lively diplomatic flap which has repercussions to the present. An interesting work.
